The colder weather has slowed
down the bite considerably but we're still catching one or two a day
off the back deck.

The fishing remains fair but my
buddy Andy (Carper Dude) really hit the jackpot yesterday off my back
deck with a whopping 25 pound 2 ounce beauty.
The photo makes the fish appear a
lot smaller but believe me it was a 25 pounder. Since my all time PB
is only 23.3, I'm not sure as to whether I'll let him fish here anymore. ..............Ed

It's been pretty slow since the
Bay Area CAG Fish-In held last weekend at M & M Campground. Mary
and I went back on Tuesday and we both blanked. We had a few half
hearted runs and we saw several fish jumping but they just wouldn't
get their heads down.
Andy and I intend to give it a
try on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and I'll post the results if
there is anything to post......Ed

I'm sorry I haven't posted any
reports for almost two months but the carp fishing here in the north
end of the lake has been very
poor. I haven't tried down in the Oaks at M & M Campground since
the beginning of July. Mary and I went down there today for a 4 hour
session and I caught 3 fish weighing from about 8 to 14 pounds.
Unfortunately Mary didn't catch any.
I feel fairly confident that the
carp fishing will really get going by the end of this month if past
years are any indication. I hope to start posting reports every few
days starting at the end of the month.

Keith Thompson of Calcarpin.com
sampled the carp fishing at M
& M Campground this weekend. He fished
from Friday evening to Sunday noon and largely due to his wife
Julie's expert netting abilities, managed to catch about 45 carp
ranging in weight from 12 to 21½ pounds.
Mary and I fished with Keith
Saturday afternoon and caught 8 carp weighing from around 12 to 17
pounds. Mary caught 5 and I caught 3.

version of Mary's new PB
We returned on Sunday morning and
Mary caught her new Personal Best weighing 23 pounds, 8 ounces and I
caught a 22 pounder, my biggest in 2 years. Unfortunately my all time
PB is only 23 pounds 3 ounces so now Mary is on the ever growing list
of people with larger PBs than me.

photo of Matt's first ever carp.
Professor from Alameda, Matt from
Clearlake and my wife Mary and I tried our luck at M & M
Campground today. Mary caught 6 carp weighing from 9 to 16 pounds,
Professor caught 4 carp from 5 to 15 pounds, Matt caught his first
ever carp of about 9 pounds plus a 14 pounder and I caught 4 carp
from 10 to 16 pounds.
Most of the fish were caught with
hair rigged maize (prepared field corn) rigged with foam for nuetral bouyancy.
Matt had never fished carp before
but I think he's hooked now. He was very impressed with their
fighting abilities.

We only fished carp a few more
times since the October 26th report and it really wasn't that great.
We caught up to 5 or 6 fish for a 6 hour session with most of the
fish running from 12 to 18 pounds. Since we haven't had a real freeze
yet the water temperature is still in the low to mid 50's so I
imagine they are still biting but I just haven't had the time to give
it a try.
This will probably be the last
report until spring unless we get a real mild winter. |
