The California CAGI June 26, 2004

The California CAGI will be held on Clear Lake at M & M Campground off Highway 20 at the end of Island Drive in Clearlake Oaks California.

Any CAG (Carp Anglers Group) member can participate and members can bring up to 2 non member guests. To register for the event you can email me or phone me at (707) 274-1197. If you want to order T-Shirts for the event, you can register here and order your T-Shirt/Shirts at the same time.

Participants can call (707) 998-9943 at M & M Campground to reserve a campsite. Campsites #17 through #37 are reserved for the event and most of them will be available from the 22nd on through to the event for those that wish to arrive early to pre fish, socialize, etc. Just tell Mike or Robert (manager or assistant) that you're with the carp fishing group when you make your reservation..

The actual contest is 10 hours long and will start on Saturday morning at 8:00am and end at 6:00pm.

Last year's CAGI was great but the lake level was so high that most anglers had to wade in 2 feet of water just to cast their rigs out. This year will not be that bad. The lake level on June 28, 2003 (last year's CAGI) was 6.36 feet on the rumsey gauge. Today (June 6, 2004) it's at 6.00 feet and they're letting water out at the dam at 595 cubic feet per second so it should be at least a foot lower for the event than it was last year.

On Sunday June 27th there will be a "carp angling with floats only" contest for those that wish to stay around. Terry Mardell (T-Angles) is organizing the event.

I hope to see everyone at M & M for the event. Please register as soon as you're sure you can make it so I have an idea as to how many anglers will be participating.
