Warning! Carp Addiction

There is no known cure

(other than feeding the addiction)

There is a fairly new disease sweeping the eastern half of the USA and Canada and rapidly working it's way west. It afflicts all anglers but especially ex-bass fishermen and serious catfishermen. If you have gotten far enough into my site to find this page it's very likely that you are already addicted.

Symptoms

Giving up bass fishing, passing up a catfish trip to go carp fishing, tieing "hair rigs" and making boilies instead of putting new line on your catfish reels are some of the telltale signs of addiction. As the disease progresses the addict will be found surfing internet sites such as Carp Anglers Group, Carp Fishing with Oatmeal Jack and Carp.net  among others.

Cure?

There is no known cure but taking the following twelve steps will help tremendously:

    1. Admit you are powerless over carp fishing.

    2. Give in to the power that carp have over you.

    3. Buy lots of good quality carp fishing gear.

    4. Sell all your bass gear and buy more carp gear.

    5. Join the "Carp Anglers Group" for support.

    6. Join the CAG Forum and learn the secrets
    from the real carp experts/addicts.

    7. Check out Carpe Carpio's site for proper wearing apparel.

    8. Avoid hanging around with slippery friends such as
    bass and walleye anglers.

    9. Organize a "Fish In" in your area to promote carp fishing,
meet fellow addicts and most importantly to addict others.

    10. Subscribe to quality carp literature such as Total Carp.

    11. Read, read and reread "Carp Fever" by Kevin Maddocks.

    12. Spread the carp fishing message to all that will listen so
that you will be rewarded with more and better carp tackle.

If you follow these steps to the best of your ability you will never be cured but you will have a great time catching the most underrated sport fish in North America and enjoying every minute of it.
