It was a great catfish derby. Everybody had a great time. The weather was fantastic and the fish cooperated. There were 380 participants in the derby, 67 fish were weighed in and most everyone managed to catch a few smaller fish. I even managed to weigh in a 16.63 pounder that was on the board for a while. My partner, Percy Oved and I caught 13 catfish during the derby weighing from 5 to 16.63 pounds. The first 8 places were for fish over 20 pounds and it took over 17 pounds to make the cut. I think this shows what a tremendous trophy channel catfish fishery we have at Clear Lake.
