It was a great catfish derby. Everybody had a great
time. The weather was fantastic and the fish cooperated. There were
380 participants in the derby, 67 fish were weighed in and most
everyone managed to catch a few smaller fish. I even managed to weigh
in a 16.63 pounder that was on the board for a while. My partner,
Percy Oved and I caught 13 catfish during the derby weighing from 5
to 16.63 pounds. The first 8 places were for fish over 20 pounds and
it took over 17 pounds to make the cut. I think this shows what a
tremendous trophy channel catfish fishery we have at Clear Lake.
Congratulations to all the derby winners and thanks to all the
participants and especially to all the volunteers that made this
derby possible.
